I'm spending a year dead for tax reasons. -Douglas Adams-
I saw my 7th grade teacher at work today. He's retired now. We talked for a while about people that were in my class, had one of those "where are they now" sort of talks. Between the two of us, it turns out we've managed to keep track of more people from the class than I had expected. It was nice talking to him and catching up with what others were doing, but it also left me to think about what I had accomplished in the years since grade seven.
I have to be honest, things haven't exactly gone according to the plan I had come up with those many years ago. That's not to say that things haven't gone well, or that they turned out badly, though. They have just worked out, differently, than my original plan. I suppose you could say that I'm just still working on the plan I had back then. I've just had a few detours on my way to that destination along the way.
Pax, all.

That's exactly the sort of thinking that brought me to the decision to go back to school. In my case, I didn't just detour - I sort of went the opposite direction and camped out in the scummy end of Vegas for 8 years.
Ahhh, Vegas..
If it wasn't for the fear and loathing.........
I forget who said this, so forgive me for not attributing it. (Your quotes on top of each entry have inspired me.)
It goes something like this: Life's what happens when we're busy making plans.
As I look back at my own journey, I, too, wonder what I could have done differently. But I figure nothing's guaranteed, and it's our challenge to make the most out of what we got, and to say "manyana" when things don't go as anticipated.
I have my health, an amazing family, a comfortable home and work that challenges me. I'm blessed.
(And I found your site via Mark's. Even better!)
It's actually a John Lennon quote Carmi.
Thanks for taking a look at my site! I have to admit, I've been a lurker on yours for a bit now, thanks to Mark. I suppose it's time to ba a little more public about my presence on other people's sites.
