When Thomas Edison worked late into the night on the electric light, he had to do it by gas lamp or candle. I'm sure it made the work seem that much more urgent. -George Carlin-
Two weeks have passed since my last posting. There has been a lot going on, to say the least.
There was the training for the new computer system at work to go through. Oh yeah, and I had extra training since I was picked to be a superuser and help out other people with the new system. The launch of the new system went as well as any of us who have been involved in this sort of thing expected, that is to say not well. The data transfer was still in progress well into the afternoon we went live, causing a huge slowdown in the system. The main server crashed several times throughout the day, and there are glitches galore in the system. We've found a fair number of oversights and omissions through the week which are being addressed as quickly as the programmers can get to them. (groan)
There's also the job front. I've been talking to a company about the new office they are opening in town, and things seem to be going well, so far. I'll hopefully know this week whether I get the job or not. I'm hoping and praying I get the position. The base salary is attractive, the bonuses seem good, and the challenge of being in charge of launching a new location would be invigorating. They offer a good benefit package, decent retirement plan, and being a youngish company, lots of advancement opportunities.
Sandi is still waiting to get into a doctor about her back. I still can't believe that the earliest we can get in is late January. If any of the candidates want my attention, show me a legitimate plan to relieve the doctor shortage in town.
We're still hunting for a house, and still selling our current home. Unfortunately, the last home er were looking at and really liked, is gone. I hope the new owners enjoy it. We'll find the right house for us. I have faith in that.
That's about it for today's post. I'll try to get back to more regular posting. Hopefully I'll be putting down some good news.
Pax, all.
Oh yeah..for the search engines, Obama, Harper, Layton, Dion, hurricane.
